Warehouse manager follows an out-of-touch boss' new corporate-approved protocol, brings the shift to a halt because the head honcho doesn't understand logistics: 'Soon we have a whole row of pallets stuck'

Whenever corporate tries to get involved in blue-collar logistics, things in the workplace unravel, especially down in the basement with shipping and receiving.

  • Unlike the polished offices of every C-level corporate suit, the unfinished cement floors of the chilly winter warehouses are lawful, sensible, and built entirely for streamlined function. Warehouse workers don't "circle back," and they don't “fly things up the corporate flagpole”; they get their work done, and they do it efficiently. However, that kind of attitude doesn't translate to busy-body emailers, which is probably how things got so messed up in this logistical warehouse.

  • The boss was confident that he could make a good impression with the corpo-baboons, but instead of creating a better workflow on the logistics floor, he brought an entire shift to a screeching halt.   • Perhaps management should have thought things through a little more when they wanted company oversight on every move. The most important step of delegation is delegating a leader to take over the menial tasks, especially if you're unwilling or unable to do it yourself.
